The newspaper clippings in this book came as a result by an invitation from the Brooklyn Historical Society to participate in a panel discussion on the 50th anniversary of Black Power. The panel was held on Tuesday, June 14, 201.

There were four major events, which occured before Kwame Ture screamed Black Power" in a Mississippi summer 50 years ago. These are Dr. King's Vietnam Speech, the Assassination of Dr. King, the March on Washington, Bloody Sunday, and Black Power.

It's my hope and prayer that these articles will educate, challenge, and inspire everyone who read them to take part in the struggle until, in the words of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., "Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last."

Rev. Dr. Herbert Daughtry
